Onfido to verify user identity for RVshare vehicle sharing network

Onfido announced today that RVshare is using its AI-based identity verification technology to reduce fraud and provide assurance for RV renters and owners alike. The 60,000 plus peer-to-peer vehicle sharing network enables RV owners to rent their trailers and motorhomes out to travelers around the U.S.

RVshare selected Onfido as its identity verification partner following a comprehensive trial process. “The superior level of trust, security and smooth user experience delivered by Onfido was a key deciding factor for choosing Onfido,” commented RVshare director of business development Taher Hassonjee. “This is the next step as we continue with our commitment to deliver a safe and trustworthy environment for owners and renters.”

Husayn Kassai, CEO and co-founder at Onfido added, “In an online world, it’s increasingly difficult to build trust – but it’s crucial to the success of businesses in the sharing economy. We’re delighted to be helping reduce fraud for RVshare without adding friction for their community of users, and look forward to supporting them as they scale.”

Last week Onfido announced that it hired Mohan Mahadevan, the former head of computer vision and machine learning for robotic applications at Amazon, as its VP of Research.

Sales of Onfido biometric and ID check products grew 342 percent in 2018. The company has received over $60M in funding from investors including Microsoft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Idinvest Partners.
