Office Depot to offer biometric identity and background check services from Telos ID

Office Depot, Inc. has announced an alliance with Telos Identity Management Solutions (Telos ID) to offer identification and background check services, including secure biometric fingerprinting, to government agencies and businesses across the U.S.

In addition to identity verification and fingerprinting, services offered will also include facial photos, and will be delivered from kiosks within Office Depot stores. The services will support individual uses as well as government and commercial ones. An initial rollout of 200 kiosks has been completed, and the retailer plans to expand the initiative to more than 500 locations by 2020.

“We’re delighted to partner with Office Depot, combining their expertise and nationwide retail footprint with Telos ID’s technology and infrastructure, a powerful combination to help support citizen services programs across the nation,” comments Mark Griffin, president and general manager of Telos ID.

Telos ID provides FBI-certified identity management and access solutions, and has provided biometric identity and credentialing services to support civil, homeland security, defense, law enforcement and commercial aviation customers, according to the announcement. Last year the company was awarded a fingerprinting services subcontract from the U.S. Census Bureau.

“Office Depot is proud to partner with Telos ID to offer convenient access to critical services at select retail locations across the country,” says Kevin Moffitt, chief retail officer for Office Depot, Inc. “Our nationwide network of retail locations and convenient hours of operation are ideal for individuals that require access to citizen services. Plus, these services align nicely with our continued focus on expanding both business and consumer service offerings at our retail stores.”
