Biometrics to step in when CCPA kills the password, ImageWare exec says

OneTrust has added seven new partners to the OneTrust ID Verification Partner Program to optimize the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) consumer rights validation process for privacy compliance, the company announced.

Acxiom, IDology, Evident, ID DataWeb, Socure, Yoti, and ID.me will soon start integrations for industry and vertical specific ID Verification, and, alongside existing partner LexisNexis Risk Solutions, will provide the market with multiple ID Verification techniques to respond to consumer rights requests in up to 45 days, as per CCPA.

User identity verification is a constant issue that organizations come up against when processing CCPA consumer rights requests, as there is always a risk of divulging personal information to scammers.

“Organizations face increased pressure to comply with the CCPA and OneTrust is committed to building integrated solutions that assist in the integration of identity validation requirements,” said Blake Brannon, Vice President of Products at OneTrust in a prepared statement. “With the expansion of our ID Verification Partner Program, we’re enabling our global customer base to rapidly gain the technology tools required to accelerate and automate their privacy initiatives.”

To process ID verification requests faster, organizations can use the OneTrust Consumer Rights technology to collect the request and information about consumer and product to roll out the suitable ID validation process. Other steps they can take are to validate identity via a OneTrust ID Verification Partner, automate request processing via OneTrust Targeted Data Discovery, or deliver the completed request to the consumer with OneTrust’s secure messaging portal and built-in CCPA templates.

“Our collaboration allows customers to take advantage of Yoti’s advanced detection AI, CCPA identity verification technology, and consumer-owned digital identity app while benefitting from One Trust’s privacy and security platform in a fully integrated way,” comments Yoti Chief Product Officer Madhu Nori.

ImageWare Systems CTO David Harding told Biometric Update in a recent interview that CCPA could be the beginning of a stunning market opportunity for identity security companies.
