Edge solution provider Kneron has been included among winners of Business Intelligence Group’s Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards program for its end-to-end integrated hardware and software solutions, the company announced.

“Kneron is honored to have been recognized by Business Intelligence Group for excellence in artificial intelligence,” stated Albert Liu, Kneron’s Cofounder and CEO, in a prepared statement. “This award serves as inspiration for us to continue democratizing AI through building the Edge AI Net.”

The company’s solutions enable on-device edge AI inferencing in mobile devices, personal computers, and IoT use cases including smart home devices, surveillance equipment, payments, and smart cars.

Kneron’s product portfolio includes AI chips to speed up neural network models on mass-market devices for 2D and 3D visual recognition and audio recognition applications, on-device AI algorithms such as face detection, facial recognition, body detection and gesture recognition, and Neural Processing Units (NPU) for low-powered devices with low thermal profiles and complex neural network computational requirements.

The approach to edge AI and biometrics contrasts with that of Aerendir, which is focused on processing data as vectors, rather than graphics, for implementation on lower-cost chips.

“We are so proud to name Kneron as a winner in our inaugural Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards program,” said Maria Jimenez, chief nominations officer for Business Intelligence Group, in a prepared statement. “It was clear to our judges that Kneron was using AI to improve the lives of their customers and employees.”

In January, Kneron raised $40 million for edge biometrics and AI chip development.
