ID2020 and Biometrics Institute welcome new members to support responsible ID systems

Panta Group, an Australia-based startup which develops mobile cloud-based technology and digital solutions, is the newest member of the ID2020 Alliance which gathers a collaborative group of global partners to promote ‘good ID.’

Panta is currently working on developing innovative cashless payment solutions in the Philippines for the transportation sector, and has partnered with civil society, governments and NGOs to do so.

Beginning next year, Panta will provide millions of public transportation users in the Philippines with digital IDs and contactless payments, according to the announcement.

These new solutions are interoperable and incorporate encryption technology, machine learning processes and artificial intelligence, they will therefore give enhanced access to essential public services. Panta’s solutions include automated fare collection, road transport management systems, transit payment solutions and smart tolls.

“We are excited to leverage ID2020’s expertise as we collectively work toward establishing new standards for data privacy and reliable digital ID for the transportation sector,” says Panta CEO David Kahale.

“After food, water, and shelter, the ability to get from here to there is one of the next most basic human needs,” comments ID2020 Executive Director Dakota Gruener. “Whether for trips to work or school, to visit a doctor, shop, or connect with friends and family, mobility plays a central part in all of our lives. We are always excited to align with companies, like Panta, whose work is so explicitly grounded in a commitment to equity and sustainable development.”

ID2020 welcomes new participants from among corporate, government, and civil society organizations to join the global movement toward ‘good ID.’

Biometrics Institute adds new members

The Biometrics Institute has also announced its newest members; RDW, Netherlands-based public service provider in the mobility chain, Changi Airport in Singapore and USA-based Mitek Systems, a global leader in mobile capture and identity verification software solutions. The 3 companies will be joining Biometric Institute’s network of over 240 organizations committed to responsible use of biometrics.
