Remark Holdings launches edge face biometrics with Nvidia module integration
Remark Holdings, Inc. has announced that its KanKan AI subsidiary has released two new edge computing systems to perform facial recognition and other applications locally. The S and T Series Smart Boxes are AI-powered edge computers equipped with NVIDIA‘s newest group of high-performance edge computing modules.
KanKan AI’s software will integrate with NVIDIA’s CUDA architecture to power edge computing. The NVIDIA modules promise improved size and energy efficiency.
“When running KanKan’s award-winning AI software cores with NVIDIA CUDA’s acceleration, our Smart Boxes enable on-the-scene AI processing capabilities, thereby making low-cost, easy-deployment, real-time AI solutions possible,” stated Kai-Shing Tao, chairman and CEO of Remark Holdings. “Our Smart Boxes support our AI inference cores, including facial recognition, vehicle recognition, license plate detection, gesture detection and inference, fire and smoke detection, PPE enforcement, social-distancing enforcement, and contact tracing.”
KanKan AI’s S Series Smart Box can perform simultaneous processing of up to eight video streams, transforming any ordinary surveillance camera into a smart camera. The device is capable of providing fast and seamless AI computing for clients in the retail, education, hospitality sectors, according to the announcement.
Along with its S series Smart Box, KanKan also released the more affordable T series suitable for smaller businesses, with video analysis capabilities for up to four streams. The company recently highlighted the successful acceleration of AI upgrades for retail outlets such as China Mobile thanks to the Smart Box’s cost-efficient deployment of cutting-edge technology.
KanKan AI’s computing platform allows retail-sector clients to obtain crucial insights into customer analysis, buying process, client satisfaction, store security improvement, and marketing strategies. Similarly, school administrators will be able to manage pupil attendance, epidemic detection and prevention, intrusion exposure, and improving energy efficiency.
In the hospitality industry, service outlets can deploy KanKan AI’s Smart Boxes to process multi-camera videos and utilize various preset AI algorithm models based on kitchen operation to improve performance and adherence to industry standards.
Nvidia CUDA is supporting a growing number of biometric applications at the network edge.
