Telpo unveils facial recognition terminal for multi-person temperature checks

Telpo has introduced TPS680T, a dynamic multipurpose temperature checking and biometric identity verification device that it claims can accurately and quickly check the temperatures of three to four persons at the same time with accuracy within 0.3 degrees Celsius.

According to a company announcement, the new terminal has a 15.6 inches screen, conducts facial recognition, mask detection, thermography and biometric liveness detection.

In addition to facial recognition and dynamic temperature monitoring, the TPS680T also has a local language broadcast option and an alarm to alert if a person checked has high temperature.

Telpo reveals that as soon as high temperature is detected in a person, the terminal’s alarm system is set off immediately and an indication is marked on the big screen. Also, the temperature data can be uploaded onto a data management platform in order to facilitate contact tracing.

The biometric device, the company says, comes as a solution to problems such as low efficiency, inaccuracy, long queues, close contact as well as insecurity which are common with single-person temperature checking systems especially when having to deal with a huge number of persons at the same time.

The TPS680T also supports a signature pad, NFC/ID card reader, TPA150 QR code scanner and passport OCR reader to allow for simultaneous temperature checking and identity verification.

Recently, the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) certified Telpo’s laboratory, confirming its ability to issue accurate testing reports for its biometric terminals and other products.

There has been some controversy around the use of temperature-screening systems which check multiple people at once.
