Biometric ad hoc testing: When the standards don’t meet your goals
Biometrics testing is an important aspect of the security industry, particularly in the field of authentication and access control.
Traditionally, biometric systems are rigorously evaluated using standardized protocols and benchmark datasets provided outlined under organizations like ISO/IEC, Google Android, or FIDO. Standardized biometric testing has significant benefits, including the primary one of inspiring consumer and industry confidence in products which stand up under the rigor of the process.
However, standardized testing may not be the best option for all biometrics system developers, especially those working with experimental technologies or specialized projects for which standardized test protocols do not yet exist.
For these circumstances, iBeta recommends ad hoc testing, which can be adapted for each biometric system’s particular circumstances.
