BIOSIG 2024 – 23rd international conference of the biometrics special interest group

The BIOSIG Group is dedicated to the foundations of biometrics. Its objective is to link practical experience with academic innovations. Thus, the Special Interest Group BIOSIG together with its co-organizers is providing with its annual conference a suitable platform to work on these issues.

The conference is jointly organized by the Competence Center for Applied Security Technology (CAST), the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), the European Association for Biometrics (EAB), the TeleTrusT-Association, the Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory (NBL), the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity (ATHENE), the Universitat der Bundeswehr Munchen, the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, the IEEE Biometrics Council, and the special interest group BIOSIG of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI).

Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements.

Topics of the conference include but are not limited to: Biometric standards and interoperability, multimodal and multi-biometrics, security analysis of biometric components or systems, on-card comparison, presentation attack detection, aging of reference data, template protection, de-identification, user interface design for biometric systems, biometric performance measurement, sample quality, best practices, usability, trustworthiness and explainability, continuous authentication, forensics, and other emerging applications, ethical, legal and socio-technological aspects, biometrics for public administrations.

Besides several other activities, there will be three very interesting keynote talks:
– “The way forward in facial image quality assessment” by Anna Stratmann (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI), Germany)
– “The Convergence Revolution and Digital Forensics: Exploring the Nexus of Bits, Atoms, Neurons, and Genes by Anderson Rocha (University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil)
– “How reliable are the ‘99% accuracy’ claims in audio deepfake detection?” by Héctor Delgado (Microsoft)

The BIOSIG-Conference is part of the Darmstadt Biometric Week, which will take place from September 23 to 27, 2024 in Darmstadt.
