Referencing reliable security sources, the newspaper stated the Interior Ministry decided to move ahead with next phase after evaluating the success of the biometric collection system at the Kuwait International Airport.  Utilizing fingerprint technology, the airport was able to identify more than 2,000 wanted individuals along with those who attempted to enter the country illegally.

The source also noted that the fingerprint systems are linked to large databases of more than five million people citizens, along with the fingerprints of more than half a million criminals.
