Morpho picked for Swedish drivers’ license and digital tachograph cards

 

Morpho has announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Swedish Transport Agency for new drivers’  licenses and digital tachograph cards.

According to the company, the new drivers’ licenses were first distributed in January and will begin distributing the tachograph cards – used to record the driving and rest times of truck and bus drivers –later this year.

The new identity documents will integrate Morpho’s latest security features, in accordance with new European Union standards. The specifics of these security features are as of yet unclear, and at the time of publishing, Morpho was unavailable for clarification, though an update regarding this information will be provided for this story.

“Decades of experience matched with continuous innovation have position Morpho as a trusted supplier of drivers’ licenses throughout the world,” Jean-Paul Jainsky, Chairman and CEO of Morpho said. “We are honored to have won this contract and look forward to future opportunities within Sweden’s ID document market.”

Morpho has also equipped Sweden with a criminal identification system, which is being upgraded with the company’s latest biometric recognition technology.

Reported previously, MorphoTrust, has landed a significant contract to maintain the central biometrics platform of the U.S. Department of Defense. The contract is worth $17.8 million with four one-year options.
