Ingersoll Rand boasts new heated Schlage hand geometry attendance terminal

Harsh work environments are the bane of many biometric scanners, but a new hand geometry terminal from Schlage and Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies includes a heater intended to ensure that debris and moisture don’t affect sample acquisition.

The particular system, the GT-400 HandPunch biometric time and attendance terminal now offers the integrated heated as an option on the INT-HTR-G system.

According to the company, the entire sample acquisition and verification process takes less than one second to complete.

“Time and attendance reporting cannot stop because of inclement weather or cold environments,” Emily Flink, Ingersoll Rand marketing manager- biometrics said. “Now, whether in a truck maintenance facility in Alaska or at an ice cream factory in the Caribbean, Schlage biometric terminal users can record their time and attendance data quickly and easily, regardless of the extreme temperatures.”

After entering a PIN and presenting a smart card, the GT-400 recalls the user’s enrolled templates and prompts the user to place their hand on a marked area. The system compares over 90 measurements that include thickness, lengths and surface areas. Fingerprints and palmprints are not measured or enrolled with this system.
