Fingerprint Cards brings Takeshi Murakami on board as country manager in Japan
Fingerprint Cards has just appointed Takeshi Murakami as the company’s Country Manager for Japan – a hotspot for the company’s activity as of late.
Murakami comes to Fingerprint Cards from Authentec, in which he was Senior Sales Manager Japan, responsible for sales into smartphones, tablets, PC and products for all major OEM customers in Japan.
Authentec was acquired by Apple last year for $356 million.
“I am delighted to welcome Takeshi Murakami to the FPC team. He brings valuable customer contacts as well as valuable additional biometry expertise to our company,” Johan Carlström, president and CEO said. “The launch we announced with Fujitsu earlier this week is just the start of FPC’s success in Japan. We expect multiple launches in Japan and other parts of Asia during the rest of 2013 and beyond.”
According to the company, since opening its Tokyo office, FPC’s activities in Japan have increased significantly and due to a new interest in biometric technology, the company is adding sales and marketing as well.
As we reported earlier, Fujitsu and Japanese mobile provider DoCoMo recently launched a Disney-branded smartphone with a Fingerprint Cards swipe sensor embedded on the back. As Carlström notes, this is the first official launch with an FPC sensor.
Also, the company just received its largest production order to date – for 3.1 million swipe sensors – for use in the Asian mobile market.
