Mandiant Corp awarded DARPA Active Authentication contract
Mandiant Corp. has just been awarded a contract from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to complete the second phase of its Active Authentication program.
The contract, worth $2.5 million seeks to expand biometrics research for identity verification, Military & Aerospace reports. Specifically, this program focuses on behavioral measures in computer use and also the development of a platform to integrate all available biometrics on a single device.
The behavioral aspect of this project will focus on desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone usage. The end product will be used on computers at the Department of Defense.
Reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, the first phase of this project looked into these technologies and behavioral measures and also the right technologies for the project as a whole, but was focused primarily on desktop and laptop use.
The third phase of the Active Authentication project will build on these systems and will eventually move the desktop application to an operational partner.
