GSA publishes location shortlist for FBI Consolidated Headquarters

According to a new report from the U.S. General Services Administration, a shortlist of locations for the new FBI Consolidated Headquarters has been established.

This list includes a portion of the old Greenbelt Metro Station in Prince George’s County in Maryland, the former Landover Mall (also in Maryland), and the GSA Franconia Warehouse Complex in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Also from the GSA report, the administration plans to conduct National Environmental Policy Act reviews on each of these sites before making a final decision on location. This also includes the opportunity for public comment. During the National Environmental Policy Act reviews, the GSA will also initiate a RFP seeking developers for the new site. First the group will be looking for qualified developers, and then it will seek development proposals.

Reported previously in BiometricUpdate.com, earlier this month the FBI announced that it is working with the Department of Defense to expand the FBI’s center campus in Clarksburg, West Virginia. This expansion includes the addition of the Biometrics Technology Center.

BiometricUpdate.com also recently spoke with the FBI about its massive, $1.2 billion Next Generation Identification program, which hinges on biometric identification technologies.
