Precise Biometrics to provide 1,200 smartcard readers for U.S. Department of Defense

Precise Biometrics announced it has received an additional order of 1,200 Tactivo smartcard readers from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the US Department of Defense.

The move comes less than five months after Precise Biometrics received an initial order of 1,100 Tactivo mobile smart card readers from the Defense Logistics Agency within the US Department of Defense, in a contract valued at 1 million SEK (USD $130,373).

This latest order is valued at 1.1 million SEK (USD $133,747) and will impact second quarter revenues 2015 with the full amount, said Precise Biometrics.

DLA continues to invest in their mobility solution that provides secure email and browsing capabilities on iOS devices.

The solution is based on the agency’s existing Common Access Card (CAC) infrastructure and increases the overall usability of the smart card system.

The agency placed the order, which includes Tactivo smartcard readers for iPhone and iPad devices through Precise Biometrics’ partner Carahsoft.

“We are pleased to see that DLA are following up on their previous order from December,” said Håkan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics. “This shows their confidence and commitment to Tactivo for convenient and secure mobile access to information systems and resources. The solution increases employee flexibility and efficiency, while ensuring a high level of security by utilizing two-factor authentication.”
