Pakistani bank completes testing of new biometric verification system

Al Baraka Bank Pakistan has completed testing of a new biometric verification system from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), according to a report by IBS Intelligence.

The Pakistani bank is a subsidiary of the Al Baraka Banking Group, which holds a presence in 12 countries around the world and employs around 7,250 staff.

Integrated testing was conducted to ensure proper communication between the new system and Al Baraka Bank’s core platform, AutoBanker from AutoSoft Dynamics.

“By taking on the robust Biometric Verification System using their standard API’s, (Al Baraka) can offer a seamless solution for customers opening accounts,” stated the IBS report.

The country’s state bank has previously ruled that customers wanting to use the new identity verification system must register themselves with NADRA, with a deadline for the implementation of the new system set for March 2016.

The new biometric verification system will also work at branch-level, allowing operation of lockers, transaction approvals and enhanced security protocols.
