Digital bank EON selects Daon’s IdentityX platform for biometric authentication

Daon revealed today that Union Bank of the Philippines’ digital banking platform EON selected its IdentityX platform to improve security and the customer experience. IdentityX enables EON customers to log in to the EON mobile app using biometrics.

“We chose to partner with Daon after extensive research in this space because they demonstrated a deep knowledge of biometrics,” explained Paolo Baltao, EON’s head advocate. “Daon is a global leader in large-scale authentication deployments with many live production systems in the financial services sector. EON is about harnessing technology to make banking delightful. With Daon’s IdentityX Platform, EON introduced the first ever Selfie Banking in the Philippines.”

In collaboration with Daon, EON employed a layered approach to security, including device cryptography and biometric verification to lock down their mobile channel and secure high risk transactions. EON has deployed fingerprint and face authentication to start with plans to enable additional biometrics, such as voice recognition, in subsequent rollout phases.

“Daon thoroughly enjoys working with new and innovative brands in the financial services sector and that is exactly what EON represents with this deployment by Union Bank of the Philippines,” said Tom Grissen, chief executive officer at Daon. “As banks embark on their digital transformation journey they need strong authentication that doesn’t sacrifice the user experience and that is exactly what biometrics provide, a convenient, easy and secure alternative to passwords.”

Earlier this year, BNP Paribas Wealth Management reported that it is using Daon’s IdentityX technology to enable customers to log into their accounts and perform transactions using biometric authentication.
