IRIS ID time and attendance solution selected by Chinese manufacturer

Iris ID revealed that its iCAM 7000 solution has been selected to manage employee time and attendance for Tongrentang, a leading manufacturer of traditional Chinese medicine.

The Beijing-based company, which was founded in 1669, operates more than 1,000 retail outlets and hospital locations across the country.

The iris-based biometric identification solution will be phased in over the next few years and is expected to be used by approximately 20,000 employees. The system will also be used for identity authentication at Tongretang’s data center. Shanghai-based Inno Technologies will integrate the time and attendance solution.

Time and attendance reports are delivered in real-time using a VPN to link locations with corporate headquarters.

According to Mohammed Murad, vice president of global sales and business development for Iris ID, after the Tongretang employees have been enrolled in the iCAM system, they will be able to check in or out of work in about a second.

“Even small errors in an employee payroll can add up to significant added operating costs for any organization,” explained Murad. “Recent reductions in product and deployment costs have made a time and attendance application a realistic investment for organizations of almost any size.”

According to recent research by TSheets, “buddy punching” is costing American businesses at least US$373 million in payroll costs nationally every year.
