Report says Egistec most likely fingerprint sensor supplier for Samsung Galaxy S9

Egis Technology is the most likely fingerprint sensor supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S9, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report cited by Digitimes

Egis Technology has previously supplied fingerprint sensors to Samsung for its Galaxy A-, C- and J-series smartphones but obtaining orders for the upcoming Galaxy S9 series model will be its first time to cut into the supply chain for Samsung’s high-end Galaxy S-series smartphone series.

According to market watchers quoted in the report, winning a fingerprint sensor order for Samsung’s Galaxy S-series models will enable Egistec to generate net profits as high as $66.6M USD in 2018.

Earlier this month Egis Technology reported a 229 percent year-over-year increase in revenue in its Q3 2017 earnings.
