AfriDOKTA adds Smart Applications International biometrics to secure telehealth accounts

Telemedicine and mobile health company AfriDOKTA and biometric health insurance administration automation company Smart Applications International (Smart) have formed a partnership to complete a proof of concept with Smart employees. If successful, the companies will roll out the combined offering to health insurers in East Africa.

For the proof of concept, which is expected to be completed at the end of August, all 104 employees of Smart have been enrolled in AfriDOKTA’s telehealth platform, with Smart’s biometric automated medical scheme management solution integrated.

“We are excited to collaborate with Smart Applications International to provide our telemedicine services to their employees,” says eHealth Solutions AfriDOKTA Founder and CEO John Gachago, Ph.D. “AfriDOKTA’s East African board-certified doctors and specialists are available 24/7 via mobile phone, laptop, tablet or desktop for online video consults that deliver convenient, reliable and safe health care.”

AfriDOKTA is an affiliate client of University of Florida research institution UF Innovate | The Hub.

“We are proud to be working with AfriDOKTA,” said Harrison Muiru, Group Managing Director, Smart Applications International Ltd. “This partnership serves to provide ease of access to healthcare services through telemedicine while still incorporating biometric authentication. It improves members’ experience, ultimately reduces the cost of quality care, and fosters better medical insurance penetration.”
