Daniel Tu, former group chief innovation officer of Ping An Insurance Company of China, has joined the Ottawa, Canada-based technology group autonomous_ID as executive advisor to the chairman, Todd Gray. Tu will focus on the company’s partnerships across the global IoT ecosystem, including mobile health and wellness, insurance, connected living and the utility of data.

Tu drove growth at Ping An through innovation and technology. He co-led Ping An’s artificial intelligence and blockchain initiatives, forged strategic partnerships, identified new business opportunities, oversaw relationships with key global research institutions, and supervised Ping An’s venture-capital arm.

“I’ve had long runs as a senior executive and CEO leading companies over my career,” explains Tu. “I think that autonomous_ID has a technology platform that is perfectly timed and will truly transform how ‘the me’ interacts with connected things. They have shown outstanding progress with transformational technology in biometrics ID, sensors and autonomous systems.”

“Daniel is a demonstrated innovator and has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in building and advising companies in media, sports, technology and financial services,” added chairman and CEO Todd Gray. “He provides invaluable hands-on experience as we push to scale the platform and cloud infrastructure into customer programs in Canada, US, Japan and China.”

Earlier this year autonomous_ID and U.S. federal contractor Akhiok-Kaguyak Inc. (AKI) announced a partnership to provide the BIO_SOLE self-contained biometric credentialing system to U.S. federal customers for identity and access control automation.
