Ipsidy partners with Datapro to provide selfie biometrics to Panama bank

Unibank Panama and Datapro, which provides software to the financial institution, have selected Verified by Ipsidy to provide mobile biometric multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Datapro has integrated Ipsidy’s MFA technology into its e-IBS core banking suite to enable account holders to perform trusted, seamless, and secure biometric authentication through a selfie with the Ipsidy mobile application, according to the announcement.

“We needed a secure but user-friendly solution to provide additional protection for our customers’ online and mobile account access, account change authorization as well as transaction approval. The Ipsidy/Datapro solution checks all the boxes,” said Unibank Vice President of Technology Nicolás Saval. “The implementation was seamless from our point of view and we believe that the added account protection will give our customers increased comfort and confidence in their online and mobile banking experience.”

Unibank plans to be the first to launch Verified as part of the integrated solution, once it receives final local regulatory approvals. Ipsidy and Datapro formed a partnership to integrate multi-factor biometric technology with e-IBS for Datapro’s financial industry customers in Latin America earlier this year.

“Identity and cyber security are major issues for our financial services clients, who seek innovative solutions that protect their customers’ accounts and give them enhanced and convenient control over access to their money,” said Javier Montero, CTO of Datapro. “We are looking forward to continuing to roll out the Verified by Ipsidy solution and thereby become a leader in the Latin American market utilizing this technology.”

“We look forward to supporting Unibank in their launch and Datapro in their continued rollout of our combined solution to their extensive customer portfolio,” said Ipsidy Chairman and CEO Philip Beck.

Ipsidy has made significant inroads in the Latin American market this year, and also recently reached a distribution deal for African and Indian Ocean markets.
