FPC, Feitian partner to launch biometric card integrating T-Shape module

Fingerprint Cards and Chinese user authentication and transaction security provider Feitian today announced a partnership that will see biometric technology by Fingerprint Cards used in contactless payment cards from Feitian.

The card integrates the T-Shape module, which is part of FPC’s 1300-series, has ultra-low power consumption and is tailored to be integrated in smartcards using standard processes.

“We chose biometric technology from Fingerprint Cards as they have the leading power consumption solution on the market and proven cutting-edge biometric performance, and hence offers the contactless smartcard market an irresistible biometric solution,” explains Yan Yan, vp at FEITIAN.

“We are pleased to collaborate with FEITIAN in our continuation to extend our partnerships with card manufacturers around the world and to see our uniquely designed T-Shape in the hands of more and more customers,” added Thomas Rex, SVP Business Line Smartcards at Fingerprint Cards.

The card will be demonstrated during the Trustech event in Cannes.

With 50 percent of global consumers – and even more in China – willing to pay extra for a biometric payment card, the contactless smart card market is a key strategic market priority for Fingerprint Cards. The company’s technology is currently being used in biometric payment card trials in Italy and France.

Biometric cards manufactured by Feitian with IDEX Biometrics’ dual interface fingerprint sensors are currently being tested by an Asian bank.
