HID Global extends mobile citizen ID management system to complete solution

HID Global has extended the capabilities of its HID goID government ID solution to provide an end-to-end mobile citizen ID deployment and management system, the company has announced.

Components of HID goID include HID’s Integrale module software suite for ID management, a gateway for provisioning mobile IDs which can be managed locally or as a cloud service, and an SDK for developing citizen apps in line with local requirements. HID also provides training and support for the creation and deployment of the citizen app and verification solutions.

“This is a major step in delivering the full value of our goID solution, as we extend its capabilities for provisioning, updating and revoking mobile IDs to include the full range of citizen ID program functionality,” said Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren, Vice President and Managing Director, Citizen ID with HID Global. “Governments now have everything they need to move to a fully mobile society, including support for integrating HID goID with existing issuance systems, developing a citizen app, and ensuring compliance with international standards for digital credentials.”

Governments can use data structures included in HID goID to issue mobile passports and driver’s licenses in compliance with the digital travel credentials in development by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and ISO 18013-5, respectively. The company says HID goID is backed by the same data security standards as are used in current physical electronic ID (eID) programs.

The platform added the new goID Gateway in October to enable multiple authorized issuing agencies on the same project, including government agencies or private-sector entities.
