A new cloud platform from HID Global enables partners to build workplace physical security into a range of applications, services, and IoT use cases, according to a company announcement. HID Origo combines HID’s mobile ID technology with its access control infrastructure, which the company says can be used to create seamless and intuitive workplace experiences.

The platform includes a comprehensive suite of integration, enablement, developer tools, and services through an app-based model to simplify the process of bringing new access control solutions to market for partners, new developers and resellers.

“HID Origo lays the foundation for a broad ecosystem of cloud-based access control technologies, products, services and business models that will accelerate workplace innovation; it dramatically increases our partners’ capabilities to create more connected and seamless building experiences for end users,” said Hilding Arrehed, Vice President of Cloud Services, Physical Access Control, with HID Global. “The platform will remove integration barriers between access control systems and smart building applications, and we will continue to expand its value with capabilities that further improve how people securely move through a facility and interact with its services.”

Cloud connections and IoT functionality are embedded in mobile devices, HID readers and controllers with the HID Origo platform to give developers direct access to the hardware through HID Origo APIs and SDKs already in use with HID’s mobile access control solution. HID Origo also enables data analytics to be used for remote reader configuration, predictive access control system maintenance and intent detection.

Subscription-based services are available through the platform, starting with mobile ID subscription licensing, with more features and services expected to be launched this year. HID says a global biotechnology company is an early adopter of HID Origo, using the subscription service for ordering and managing mobile ID provisioning over the air for employees with new or lost smartphones.

HID recently upgraded its goID government ID solution to provide end-to-end mobile citizen ID capabilities.
