IDEX Biometrics passes multiple payment schemes’ certification requirements

Idex Biometrics‘ dual-interface fingerprint technology surpasses key requirements for compliance, security and biometrics performance by multiple global payment schemes, according to a company announcement. Testing processes were undertaken by third-party testing laboratories which included a strict audit of Idex’s distributive matcher and security architecture.

The biometrics company notes that having surpassed the requirements for biometric sensor and matching algorithms certification, it has a compelling solution for card manufacturers looking to offer a biometric smart card that can be used by multiple global payment schemes.

“This is a significant landmark for Idex and a clear validation of our advanced biometric technology and industry-leading security architecture,” says Stan Swearingen, CEO of Idex Biometrics. “This confirms that Idex has completed all its requirements to support full certification and we’re looking forward to further collaboration with our industry partners to complete the full card certification process and enable widespread adoption of biometric smart cards.”

Earlier this month Idex revealed that one of its customers in Asia has achieved cost-effective, mass production standards for biometric smart cards and in June the Bank Card Test Center (BCTC) in China began its certification process for cards using Idex’s dual-interface fingerprint sensors.
