Egis integrates Precise Biometrics’ software in optical under-display sensor for mobile devices

Egis Technology has integrated Precise Biometrics‘ Precise BioMatch Mobile fingerprint software in an optical under-display sensor which has been deployed in a series of mobile devices. The Swedish biometrics firm first announced the deal in June but today revealed the customer name.

The agreement enables the sensor supplier to include Precise Biometrics’ fingerprint software, Precise BioMatch Mobile, into its under-display sensor solutions for mobile devices. Precise Biometrics expects this integration to generate approximately 10 MSEK in revenue during second half of 2019, in the form of royalties based on actual number of devices utilizing Precise BioMatch Mobile, together with a fee for licensing the software and for support and maintenance.

“It’s satisfying that our recently announced partnership in Asia already has resulted in an order-win,” says Precise Biometrics CEO Stefan K. Persson. “Through our newly established Shanghai office, we will continue to further expand our Asian footprint and strengthen our presence in local key markets.”

Precise first announced it would be opening an office in Shanghai last November as part of the company reorganization plan which it completed in May.

Last month Goodix filed a patent infringement complaint against Egis Technology with the Beijing Intellectual Property Court, alleging Egis has used protected intellectual property covering key technologies which are important to essential features and functions of in-display fingerprint sensor technology.
