Biometrics veteran and digital identity expert joins FacePhi advisory board

Digital identity expert Bianca Lopes has joined the advisory board of fintech biometric company FacePhi to help build up its expansion strategy, the company announced.
Bianca Lopes is the first woman to ever become part of an advisory board for a listed company in the biometrics industry, according to the announcement. She comes from a technical background, having worked as an economist and mathematician specialized in digital identity and data. Her previous experience includes serving as Chief Identity Officer (CIO) for financial biometrics company BioConnect, and advising over 40 financial institutions and governments on technology aspects.
At industry conferences, she has given presentations on data management, identity and security in the financial sector. Lopes is also a serial entrepreneur, co-founding Talle, a company that delivers technology and strategic consulting services.
“With the appointment of Lopes, we are taking a further step forward in our equality policy, favoring and promoting the participation of women in positions of responsibility within our corporate organization chart,” said FacePhi CEO, Javier Mira. “Progress in society is built with deeds, not words, and with this appointment we want to take advantage of the valuable training of this professional to consolidate our business project at an international level.”
Commenting on the new collaboration with FacePhi, she said it is “an opportunity to improve the global positioning of FacePhi and delve into biometrics and onboarding.”
FacePhi has recently secured €4 million (US$4.4 million) in funding from Swiss investment company Nice&Green to boost adoption of the company’s biometric onboarding and authentication products in the U.S. and Asian fintech markets.
