New ID verification and biometric technologies, partnerships, and coverage announced
Veridos is unveiling its SwipeUp ID, a new technology for authenticating the validity of identity documents, at the upcoming SecurityPrinters event in Copenhagen.
The identity document with a hidden metallic element encoded with identity information is placed in the capacitive display of a smartphone, and swiped up with one finger to induce a unique signal. The signal is analyzed by the app to confirm the document’s validity within a few seconds, according to the company announcement. Veridos developed the interactive security feature through an exclusive development partnership with startup Prismade Labs, based in Chemnitz, Germany.
The new process is well-suited to ID documents without embedded electronics or chips, such as many identity cards and driver’s licenses.
“Authorities or government agencies want to be able to verify identities quickly and reliably,” explains Veridos Head of Product Management Dr. Silke Bargstädt-Franke. “Proprietary solutions can elevate the costs to produce traditional documents, thus we developed an alternative smartphone-based solution to offer our customers a cost-effective and secure verification solution of chipless documents. With SwipeUp ID, operating costs are significantly lower and handling is comfortable and intuitive.”
The technology is applied through a regular printing process, is cost-effective and environmentally friendly, the companies say.
Veridos recently announced that Andreas Räschmeier will take over as CEO as of November 1.
Signicat expands coverage
A new technical interface and new third-party integrations have increased the number of countries Signicat can perform identity verification in to 208, the company says. The company has also added several new capabilities to its offering.
Signicat uses web-based video interviews, NFC passport scanning and other identity document scans to help businesses increase confidence and reduce risk in the onboarding process.
Agent-based verification, automated identity document verification, and NFC passport reading capabilities are all new to the latest release, according to Signicat.
“The Internet has damaged the concept of trust and created a world where it is easy to masquerade as someone else. Businesses, particularly those in regulated industries, need to maintain trust in their customer relationships. But as digitization of customer engagement processes grows, reducing risk and fraud is vital,” comments Gunnar Nordseth, CEO at Signicat. “Our aim with this release is to future-proof our platform to ensure we can provide our customers with access to best-in-class identity verification technologies across a wide range of markets, all accessible through a single integration point.”
Acuant partners with IdentityMind
Acuant has formed a distribution partnership with IdentityMind, contributing its AssureID identity document verification offering to the IdentityMind Platform Ecosystem, and bringing it to more channels and geographies, according to an announcement.
“Acuant and IdentityMind share a common belief that identity is the new currency in today’s digital economy, and it must be protected,” says Acuant President and CEO, Yossi Zekri. “Our strength in identity proofing during the onboarding and account origination process is the perfect combination to IdentityMind’s ability to build a digital identity and continue to monitor its use through the lifetime of the user. This partnership enables trusted transactions helping companies to reduce fraud, comply with AML/KYC regulations and provide better customer experiences.”
AssureID compares documents against its library of more than 6,000 ID types with AI and human reviews to verify user identity.
“As part of our goal to create the most agnostic and accurate platform for trusted digital identities addressing compliance and risk, we have built an expansive technology ecosystem that pre-integrates the best of breed solutions across a variety of use cases and geographies,” said Garrett Gafke, IdentityMind’s CEO. “Acuant has an outstanding track record in identity verification as a white label solution for many industry leading partners globally. We are excited to be able to offer their solution to our customer-base.”
New Keesing flagship to launch
Keesing has announced its new flagship ID verification solution for remote customer onboarding is ready for market launch, after a successful testing period.
The new AuthentiScan web API combines biometric facial recognition and liveness to its ID document capturing process, the accuracy of which Keesing says is what makes the new solution stand apart in the market.
“As a prospective customer fails to capture the images of his ID document correctly, the entire identification process stagnates or sometimes even fails,” states Daniel Suess, commercial director of Keesing Technologies. “This leaves them with a frustrated customer unable to onboard himself. Result: another customer dropping out. As user experience is paramount in digital onboarding, accuracy is key. Offering the most accurate customer identification solution was one of our objectives when developing the AuthentiScan web API. An accurate image capturing process is essential in guiding customers in their onboarding journey.”
Keesing is now completing the testing process, which has been carried out with customers and other interested parties, mostly financial institutions.
The company expects the AuthentiScan Web API will reach live production in November.
