Ultrasonic connectivity developers Sonarax, Stimshop win Worldline ePayments Challenges
Ultrasonic connectivity software technology company Sonarax and data over sound protocol developer Stimshop have won the Worldline e-Payments Challenges of “In-store ultrasound mobile payment” and “In-store ultrasound biometric authentication,” Sonarax announced in a press release.
The two companies showcased their in-store, ultrasound cashless payment solution for Carrefour subsidiary Marketpay’s global deployment. Their win acknowledges a real-life use case of in-store authentication and cashless payments in retail, while the solution is a pioneer that opens up opportunities for other solutions to improve user digital experience with mobile payments, ID & authentication, and IoT pairing.
Sonarax and Stimshop use ultrasonic technology to improve experience for cashiers and self-checkout payments. Shoppers in supermarkets can connect their smartphones to the cash register without connecting to the internet. In case of extended waiting times, users could receive coupons or loyalty points. By deploying ultrasound waves, shoppers can get a hands-free experience, Sonarax writes, and enjoy a frictionless and secure user experience. The company assures users that the data is not exposed to third-parties and processing is done locally on-device.
“We are immensely proud of meeting Worldline’s challenges and knowing we can offer MarketPay and other Carrefour subsidiaries the best customer experience in their stores,” says Sonarax CEO Benny Saban. “The goal here is to extend the seamlessness of the digital world into the real world, all while ensuring security and privacy. Ultrasonic waves are the way, and Sonarax is proud to be spearheading the initiative.
