Daon, Tradelink deliver biometric passwordless authentication for Hong Kong betting apps

Daon, Tradelink deliver biometric passwordless authentication for Hong Kong betting apps

Following a multi-year partnership to develop innovative technology in the region, Daon and Tradelink are now delivering biometric passwordless authentication for mobile login to the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) customers, the company announced.

HKJC is leveraging Daon’s and Tradelink’s expertise and technology to integrate biometric security for its mobile TV channel app and its Racing Touch app to provide customers with a frictionless and seamless login experience.

In its business development efforts in Asia, Daon is supported by Enterprise Ireland, while in Hong Kong it collaborates with identity management solutions provider Tradelink to deliver technology for banking and financial services.

The HKJC betting app leverages Daon’s biometric authentication platform IdentityX to remove password and security question reliance.

“With a single frictionless biometric interaction, The Hong Kong Jockey Club customers can access their accounts easily but securely, safe in the knowledge that their personal details will stay private,” said Tom Grissen, Daon CEO, in prepared statement. “IdentityX allows what was once a 30-second login process to be completed in less than a few seconds.”

Tradelink deploys the secure biometric solution for HKJC’s betting app and provides 24/7 local support.
Daon’s IdentityX platform is FIDO certified and can process more than 1,200 biometric authentications per second. All biomarkers are stored on the user’s authorized device, and are not transferred or stored to the service provider.

“The Club has been an early pioneer in using mobile technology to improve the experience for customers,” said Richard Cheung, executive director of customer and international business development of HKJC, in the statement. “We are delighted to work with Daon and Tradelink to continue innovating and to deliver a seamless and secure mobile experience, so that it’s as fast and convenient as possible for our customers to take part in the excitement of the races via their own mobile devices.”

Before introducing biometric authentication, users who could not remember their passwords or security answers would give up on the app or call the call center for help.

“Biometric solutions like Daon’s IdentityX are ideally suited to e-commerce, where service providers want to improve the end-user experience, enhance security and reduce their own levels of risk,” said Tradelink CTO and Executive Director Andrew Cheng in the statement. “We’re delighted to be working with Daon to help The Hong Kong Jockey Club meet customer demand for fast, secure login via face and fingerprint. Customers have their mobile devices with them at all times, and authentication methods that leverage a device’s technology are those that will be most successful.”
