Face biometrics integrated for onboarding in NA by Ipsidy and Intellicheck, ZA by BioID and Comcorp

Face biometrics integrated for onboarding in NA by Ipsidy and Intellicheck, ZA by BioID and Comcorp

Intellicheck and Ipsidy have formed a partnership to bring what the companies call an enhanced suite of solutions for comprehensive real-time facial biometric identity proofing and multi-factor authentication to the North American market.

Remote ID authentication technology from Intellicheck will be combined with Ipsidy’s facial liveness and biometric matching services, the companies say, to give clients confidence that the people they deal with are who they say they are. The expanded authentication service provides better than 99 percent accuracy for remote transactions through the web or a mobile application, according to the press release.

“Account takeover incidents jumped 74 percent in 2019 at a significant cost to consumers and merchants,” Intellicheck CEO Bryan Lewis points out in the announcement. “The need to prevent identity theft and fraud will continue to grow and intensify. This new product offering is an effective and efficient answer to the surging incidents of account takeovers throughout North America.”

“Authentication and verification must be top of mind across the lifetime of an account,” Lewis continues. “To protect the business and consumer, you must first establish that the consumer opening an account has a valid form of government issued ID and then through facial biometric matching confirm that the consumer is in control of that ID. But account opening ID authentication is just the first step. There is an ongoing need to protect the business and the legitimate account holder from fraudulent account takeovers. Every request that could signal account takeover must be authenticated to prevent fraudsters from inflicting costly damage. This partnership provides multiple tools to do so.”

Everything starts with trusted identity. Our identity platform delivers a suite of services that help our customers quickly and accurately establish this foundation of trust,” says Ipsidy CEO Philip Kumnick. “Intellicheck is well known for their leadership in providing real-time ID authentication. This agreement brings together both service offerings to effectively deter identity fraud and account takeover in today’s digital world.”

BioID selected by South Africa’s Comcorp

Onboarding services from Comcorp now include biometric facial recognition and liveness detection from BioID.

BioID becomes a Trusted Technology Partner to Comcorp, which has integrated BioID’s technology with its existing digital identity proofing solution to launch the Curata biometric authentication solution. Curata allows users to authenticate themselves with a facial recognition comparison against South Africa’s population register.

Strong customer authentication with face biometrics and liveness detection is compliant with South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information (POPI) law, as well as PSD2, Open Banking and Open Data.

The integration of BioID PhotoVerify makes Curata a fully automated onboarding solution by performing biometrics checks in real-time, according to the announcement.

“After 26 years in the financial services business, the need to protect our customers and their data remains at the forefront of our business model. As technology advances, we need to ensure a smooth but secure user experience,” says Marcel Zeier, head of sales at Comcorp. “It is our view that BioID offers Curata the strongest levels of authentication with the frictionless user experience necessary for the financial services industry.”

Comcorp is currently using Curata in case studies for combating fraud in vehicle and asset financing, and secure bank card deliveries.
