VinCSS launches cloud service for passwordless authentication to complete FIDO2 ecosystem

VinCSS has launched a cloud-based passwordless authentication service compliant with FIDO Alliance protocols for enterprises in Vietnam, and eventually worldwide.

The authentication-as-a-service cloud accords with the ‘Make In Vietnam’ initiative, and provides an additional model that organizations can use to implement a platform and services compatible with international standards at an affordable price, the company says.

Launching the VinCSS FIDO2 Cloud as a service completes the Vingroup subsidiary’s FIDO2 Ecosystem, according to the announcement, which also claims it is the first strong authentication cloud service in the country.

“VinCSS FIDO2 Cloud service was created as the last piece of the VinCSS FIDO2 ecosystem. By launching this cloud service, we are proud to present to the world a completely ‘Make in Vietnam’ technology platform that is developed in compliance with international standards and can fully solve the problem of strong passwordless authentication applications for customers,” says VinCSS CEO Do Ngoc Duy Trac. “Beginning now in 2021, we will coordinate with partners and distributors to introduce and bring this technology to customers worldwide.”

The VinCSS FIDO2 Cloud platform supports OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML 2.0 standards, making it easy for corporate customers to deploy strong passwordless authentication. Enterprise customers with large numbers of internal users, many applications, and external products like banks, insurance companies and e-commerce providers can implement the platform as a private cloud service or an on-premise system with support from VinCSS.

For SMBs, startups, and groups of users like freelancers or developers, passwordless authentication can be quickly integrated into small-scale applications for product testing or development through a public cloud service to help keep costs low. The public cloud service supports OAuth 2.0.

The company’s flagship physical token biometric security was certified to the FIDO2 standard in December.
