Dell integrates Fingerprint Cards’ biometric software in laptop series

Dell has selected Fingerprint Cards’ biometric software for its Latitude 5000 and 7000 Series laptops, according to a company announcement.

Three of the top five PC manufacturers have now awarded design wins to FPC.

The biometric solution interfaces with Windows Hello and supports Microsoft Enhanced Sign-in (SecureBio), according to the announcement. The solution can be used with various FPC fingerprint biometrics sensors, and the company says announcements of PC models featuring the technology can be expected in the near future.

“This product launch by Dell confirms the positive trend in demand for biometric authentication in consumer and enterprise PCs. Fingerprints is poised for continued growth in this segment, providing the perfect way to add convenient and secure authentication to PCs,” comments Fingerprint Cards Senior VP Business Line Mobile Ted Hansson.

FPC’s PC biometrics solution is also tailored for use in other form factors, including 2-in-1 convertibles and PC accessories, the company says.

Momentum in its mobile phone and PC business lines boosted Fingerprint Cards’ sales in Q2 2021, but the company is increasingly focused on integrating its technology with more IoT and access control products.
