Privacy-preserving HR data sharing tools developed by TrustBuilder, launched by Indicio

Flemish Government entrepreneur support program VLAIO has awarded a project grant to IAM provider TrustBuilder to explore the secure and selective sharing of personal information for human resources purposes.

The project will be carried out by a consortium made up of TrustBuilder and five other organizations. They will use personal data repositories based on Solid technology to support minimized data exchanges.

TrustBuilder is contributing its identity and access management solution for access control to a decentralized digital identity. Data submitted from a data vault can then be analyzed and converted to a more privacy-preserving form, such as a “yes or no” answer to an age eligibility query, and then forgotten, according to the announcement.

“Trust that our personal data is being handled carefully has taken a serious hit recently,” says TrustBuilder CEO Frank Hamerlinck. “Fortunately, there are technological means to store and exchange data securely. That is especially important when it comes to personal data, for example about age, skills, diplomas obtained … That’s what this project revolves around.”

The amount of the grant was not disclosed.

TrustBuilder signed onto a partnership with Signicat earlier this year to improve digital identity interoperability.

Indicio launches proof of employment solution

A new solution for continuous verification of employment status has been launched by Indicio.

The new Indicio Proven Works gives global businesses and external benefit providers tamper-proof assurance of employee identity claims, according to the company announcement.

The company notes that the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) has estimated losses from occupational and payroll fraud at 5 percent of business’ revenue.

“Indicio Proven Works is a powerful way to simplify employment verification,” says Heather Dahl, CEO of Indicio, “and a simple way to experience the power of verifiable credential technology. Whether entering a facility or a Zoom meeting or enrolling with a benefits partner, a verifiable credential provides fraud-resistant and tamper-proof assurance that the employee presenting the credential is your employee. KYC once, verify continuously and seamlessly, save time, money, effort, and eliminate risk. And once you add a verifiable credential layer to your existing system, you’ll be ready to expand the scope for immediately actionable, verifiable data.”

Indicio joined Google’s vendor partner program to expand the reach of its decentralized digital identity and verifiable credentials in October.
