BIO-key discussed biometics for blood donor identification this weekend

Bio-key International presented at the American Association of Blood Banks annual meeting and CTTXPO in Boston this past weekend.

This forum included a brief presentation of how one organization moved from a first-stage electronic donor record to a more advanced system including biometrics for donor and staff identification.

Panellists discussed the integration of third-party medical devices, in addition to the overall impact these projects had on key performance indicators, such as duplicate donors and documentation errors.

Topics of interest included why biometrics and integration with medical devices were selected as strategic projects, how these projects were set up and positioned for success.

The event brought together blood donor industry members to learn about the latest advances in blood banking, transfusion medicine, and cellular therapies, as well as to explore state-of-the-art products and services.
