Identification Technology Partners announced that Edwin T. Upchurch has joined IDTP. Dr. Upchurch has over 40 years of systems design, performance engineering and project management experience.

During this time, Dr. Upchurch developed performance engineering methodologies that successfully align highly complex systems with designed functional and reliability requirements. He was then able to apply these principles to biometrics systems for a handful of government agencies, such as FBI’s IAFIS, NGI, and the UK’s NAFIS.

“Dr. Upchurch’s applied experience in performance analysis supports a critical element for biometrics systems development,” said IDTP founding partner and president Paul Collier. “Ed provides an unmatched support capability to our clients with the convergence of biometrics and Big Data in large scale systems. We are proud to have Ed join the IDTP team.”

As the founder of Emu Solutions, Dr. Upchurch also serves on the company’s board of directors. He is also a faculty associate at Caltech’s Center for Advanced Computing Research and a principal engineer at Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Many of Dr. Upchurch’s high performance computing projects are funded by Department of Defense Advanced Research Project Agency, Department of Energy, US Army, Department of Defense and NASA.

In addition to this, Dr. Upchurch has served in a range of senior technical management roles at Control Data, Computer Science Corporation, Radian, Lockheed Martin, and Shell Oil.

He has also taught performance engineering courses at several post-secondary institutions, including University of Texas at Austin, Caltech, National University of Singapore and University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.

As a technical consulting firm, IDTP provides expertise in biometrics, secure identity authentication and credentialing system design and testing.
