Sonavation releases biometric password manager and security key devices

Biometric ultrasound technology firm Sonavation has launched IDKEY devices, a FIDO Ready U2F/UAF biometric password manager and key product that provides multi-factor authentication for online systems, documents, files and facilities.

IDKEY is backed by Sonavation’s patented 3D biometric ultrasound surface scan technology, which provides in-depth scan of a user’s biometric fingerprint.

As a result, the multi-factor authentication product is able to create a unique identifier for each user that Sonavation claims is nearly unspoofable.

The device is fully compliant with FIDO universal second factor (U2F/UAF) standards and stores the user’s biometric information on the device itself.

Additional features of the IDKEY product line include 16GB of encrypted storage, voice search to quickly find specific passwords, Bluetooth and wi-fi enabled, uses NFC and secure element technology, USB capabilities, OLED screen display, rechargeable battery, water resistant, and apps for iOS and Android.

IDKEY is available in two versions. The M-Series weighs 40 grams and is 3.2” x 1.43″ x .92″ in size, while the X-Series is 29 grams and 77mm x 39mm x 14mm.

“As a founding member of the FIDO Alliance, we know that secure authentication is a critical step to solving the pain point of password insecurity,” said Bob Stewart, COO of Sonavation. “FIDO standards of multi-factor authentication are the future of digital security and access. With IDKEY, users can own the most advanced FIDO-compliant technology designed to keep their online identities in their own hands.”

Previously reported, Sonavation recently acquired the assets of security identification firm Arkami for an undisclosed amount.
