Synaptics receives FIDO certification for four Natural ID fingerprint solutions

 

Synaptics Inc. announced that four of its fingerprint ID products are now FIDO certified by the Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance, including VFS7500S (Match-in-Sensor), VFS7500 (Match-on-Host), FS4200 (Match-on-Host), and VFS6100 (Match-on-Host).

As part of the FIDO certification, Synaptics’ Natural ID fingerprint solutions are fully compliant with the FIDO 1.0 Universal Authentication Framework (UAF) standard and are interoperable among other products and services that support FIDO specifications.

Synaptics continues to develop fast, convenient and highly secure fingerprint ID solutions that are aligned with FIDO Alliance’s mission to improve the online authentication process through a set of standards.

“As a founding board member of the FIDO Alliance, Synaptics has helped to pave the way for adoption of password-free authentication through our strong portfolio of biometric solutions,” said Ritu Favre, senior vice president and general manager f Synaptics’ biometric products division (BPD. “By providing FIDO certified solutions, our customers can expand their partner network and take full advantage of the market growth opportunity for biometrics security solutions.”

Synaptics’ biometric solutions address market requirements across various devices, including entry- to mid-level mobile phones, flagship smartphones, laptops, tablets, and peripheral device segments including mouse and keyboard.
The company’s products are developed to meet the form factor requirements of a wide range of physical implementations including button mounting, rear and side mounting, and other emerging placements that help Synaptics customers differentiate their products.

Synaptics will continue to participate and contribute to the FIDO Alliance initiatives, as well as plans to certify new biometric sensor products to assure interoperability with the numerous FIDO deployments available.

Previously reported, Synaptics Inc. introduced a new Match-in-Sensor fingerprint authentication technology, which it claims is the industry’s first fully hardware encapsulated fingerprint sensor and matching solution.
