FIDO Alliance welcomes TOC as newest member

TOC announced that it is the first Latin American company to join the FIDO Alliance.

Founded in 2010, TOC S.A. is a Chilean company specializing in the development of identity verification technologies and applications derived from biometric technology.

“We are excited to welcome TOC as our newest Associate member,” said Brett McDowell, executive director of the FIDO Alliance. “FIDO standards ensure efficient universal authentication across an entire interoperable ecosystem, which provides better security, more privacy, more trade and expanded services through the digital industry.”

“For years we have been heading in Chile and other countries in the region such as Peru and Colombia, carrying out safety and efficient procedures, verifying the identity of people with their fingerprint. For this reason, we are proud and to be the first Latin American company to join the FIDO Alliance alongside other leading authentication companies,” said Paul Leon, general manager of TOC, who attended the FIDO Seminar held in New York in March.

“We believe that biometrics is the best technology available today for online authentications, certifying that I am who I say, so we are pleased to contribute to and support FIDO’s global standards and to keep up to date on the latest trends.”

FIDO has more than 250 members, including Google, MasterCard, Visa, Microsoft, American Express, Bank of America, Intel, PayPal, Samsung and others. FIDO is working to address the lack of interoperability between authentication devices, along with solving the problem of creating and remembering multiple passwords and generating standards to avoid loss of information by malicious access.

In addition to FIDO Alliance, TOC also a member of the Biometrics Institute.
