Health management organization to pilot biometrics-secured mobile medication dispenser

Next month, Intent Solutions‘ biometrics-secured pill dispensation device, TAD, will be used in a pilot project by MAP Health Management (MAP) to track how patients with a substance abuse disorder, served by MAP’s patient engagement technology, comply with medication protocols.

TAD (Take as Directed) is built around a portable dispenser containing a disposable vial filled with medication attached to a reusable electronic device. The device is designed to be pre-programmed with the prescribed regimen and patient biometrics. The device notifies the patient that it’s time to take the pill, authenticates their fingerprint, delivers the pill and records the data. The real-time data is sent to the device app, and then to a cloud database for analysis.

MAP Health Management will provide a TAD device to a number of patients whose risk for relapse is continuously measured by MAP’s technology. The real-time data sent to MAP’s platform will be leveraged to improve clinical outcomes and manage financial risk by mitigating recidivism and costly treatment episodes.

“We are excited to partner with MAP and empower their ecosystem with our TAD device,” said Sam Zamarripa, president and director of Intent Solutions. “We know that our product has great efficacy for those with substance use disorder and MAP knows how to leverage our device to improve outcomes for all of the stakeholders.”
