Safran Identity & Security now exclusive supplier of Vitale health e-cards

Safran Identity & Security has won a six-year contract from the GIE SESAM-Vitale to ensure the development, manufacture and personalization of the “Vitale” French health insurance cards.

The GIE SESAM-Vitale is an economic interest group financed by the French statutory mandatory health insurance organizations and the three private complementary health insurance associations.

“This new tender integrated for the first time the entire industrial scope, from the Java Card embedded software to the production of customized cards, leaving the bidders free to choose the components,” explained Jacques de Varax, general manager of GIE-SESAM Vitale. “Safran Identity & Security provided the best response to all our requirements and the design phase of the cards is already under way.”

Safran Identity & Security will supply all the industrial services to ensure the delivery of the Vitale health e-cards which are necessary for the identification, the authentication and the signature of the insured persons in France for healthcare services.

“We are pleased to place our digital expertise at the service of the health sector, a strategic area of development for us. Becoming the exclusive supplier of the Vitale cards, which are at the heart of the digitalization of health care services in France, is a highly symbolic step,” commented Anne Bouverot, president of Safran Identity & Security.
