Nuance launches AI-powered multimodal biometric solutions

Nuance Communications has released a new suite of biometric security solutions powered by artificial intelligence (AI), which includes voice biometrics technology as well as facial and behavioral biometrics.

Nuance Security Suite applies deep neural networks (DNN) and advanced algorithms to detect synthetic speech attacks, as well as integrates facial and behavioral biometrics, to provide improved fraud prevention.

By combining a range of physical, behavioral, and digital characteristics to provide secure authentication and more accurately detect fraud across multiple channels, the security suite allows enterprises to combat fraud attacks while offering an improved customer experience.

The suite of offerings delivers improved synthetic speech detection capabilities, with the latest release delivering a 45 to 55 percent improvement. In addition, Nuance’s R&D is continuously working on improving this core technology.

The multimodal, biometric approach simplifies the authentication process for both the enterprise and the consumer, eliminating the need to remember or manage passwords, and enabling layered biometric authentication across channels.

Nuance Security Suite allows organization to authenticate customers using one or more biometric modalities, including voice biometrics, facial biometrics, behavioral biometrics, and other emerging authentication technologies such as retinal scans.

“Already this year, around the world, some 150 million people have made more than one billion successful voice authentications using Nuance biometrics technology, with not one reported act of fraud,” said Brett Beranek, director of product strategy for biometric security at Nuance. “We have been leading this market for many years and across many industries. By adding facial and behavioral biometrics to our portfolio, we are delivering more options for our enterprise customers, more convenience for their customers, and more protection for everyone.”

Nuance’s Security Suite has been adopted by several large organizations around the world, including the Australian Tax Office, Barclays, ING Netherlands, Tangerine Bank, Tatra Banka, Turkcell, and Vodacom South Africa.

Nuance recently partnered with behavioral biometrics firm BioCatch to offer continuous authentication and more accurately detect fraud across multiple channels as part of its expanded Nuance Security Suite solution.
