Sierra Leone Correctional Service deploys biometric registration system from Fix Solution

Fix Solution (SL) Ltd. and the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) collaborated to introduce a biometric registration system for convicted prisoners at the male and female correctional centers in Freetown.

According to SLCS Director of Human Resources Dennis Harman, the National Inmates Management System” project has been designed to enable efficient inmate management adding that the project will provide the correctional centers with greater operational efficiency through a single point of access for biographic, demographic, social and medical information.

“This initiative could not have come to fruition, but for the funding made available by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA),” said Harman. “As the world advances in terms of offender management, constant efforts are made to promote respect for the rule of law and to ensure access to justice.”

In May it was revealed that UK prisons have been implementing biometrics to create a better environment with improved safety and greater access to services.
