Eight new smartphones feature Fingerprint Cards biometric tech

Fingerprint Cards announced today that in the last week eight smartphone models were launched with Fingerprint Cards’ sensors.

The FPC1511 fingerprint sensor is featured in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Oppo F11 and F11Pro, and the LG K50, K40 and Q60 models. Fingerprint sensor FPC1291 is featured in the Sharp Aquos Zero and Aquos R2 Compact devices.

Last month Fingerprint Cards announced the launch of its first optical fingerprint sensor, FPC1610, designed to be mounted under the display of smartphones.

In its 2018 year-end report the Swedish biometrics firm acknowledged that the challenging mobile market would impact short term sales but noted that its strategy for the coming years to diversify and broaden the business includes defending and building on its strong position in the smartphone segment.
