Zwipe appoints CTO, will establish European tech hub in Germany

Zwipe announced today the appointment of Dr. Robert Mueller as its Chief Technology Officer, effective today. Mueller is expected to lead Zwipe’s technical vision and development to ensure the company’s commercialization and long-term success.

Dr. Mueller joins the Norwegian biometrics technology company with more than 20 years experience in senior technical development positions focusing on biometrics and smart card technology at companies including Siemens, Giesecke+Devrient and BMW. He most recently served as CTO at Next Biometrics.

“Robert brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of our technology platform to our expanding global customer base,” comments Zwipe CEO André Løvestam.

Zwipe also announced today that it will establish a European tech hub to complement its Colorado Springs research and development center in the United States. Based in Munich, Germany, the new hub will add to Zwipe’s expertise in biometrics, algorithms, payment card integration, enrolment solutions and product management.

According to its 2018 annual report Zwipe expects costs to exceed its revenues for several more quarters, but recent events have positioned it to pursue market share as biometric payment cards move toward mass adoption.
