Veridos and Prismade Labs collaborate on interactive security feature for ID cards
Veridos has entered into an exclusive joint development partnership with Prismade Labs GmbH to integrate Prismade printed electronics technology into Veridos ID cards and system solutions. Printed electronics will be used to digitally mark ID cards, enabling them to create interactive interfaces with smartphones. According to the announcement the technology requires neither a chip nor radio waves.
“The integration of Prismade technology into our cutting-edge ID cards enables us to expand our product portfolio in a number of ways,” explains Dr. Silke Bargstädt-Franke, senior VP and head of product management at Veridos. “Together, we are developing a new security feature that can be verified even by untrained personnel, with no need for specific readers, and in doing so we are reducing the barriers to digital verification by connecting smartphones in a user-friendly way.”
“In Veridos, we have found a partner whose software product expertise has been tried and tested in many different ways, meaning it represents an excellent complement to our many years of specializing in functional, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective printing technology,” adds Jan Thiele, co-founder and managing director of Prismade Labs. “We very much look forward to soon being able to jointly offer new identity documents and verification on this basis.”
Announced earlier this year, Veridos is leading a new EU-funded research project that focuses on the authentication of travelers on the move and document verification with the goal of making border control faster and more secure.
