NEXT Biometrics Aadhaar-certified technology integrated in Sunmi POS terminals for India

Shanghai Sunmi Technology Co. is integrating Next Biometrics` STQC and UIDAI-certified fingerprint sensor modules into its P1 POS terminals for Aadhaar Enabled Payment System applications in India. Sunmi manufactures and sells more than one million POS terminals to local and foreign markets per year.

“We are pleased that Sunmi joins the growing number of hardware manufacturers benefitting from our certified and proven sensor technology,” says Alain Faburel, Next Biometrics chief sales and marketing officer. “We are making good progress in expanding our network of business partners for Aadhaar-based applications.”

“The P1 POS terminal is our first device to incorporate biometrics,” adds Lin (Jack) Zhe, founder of Sunmi. “The Next fingerprint sensor technology has been our deliberate choice because of its excellent reputation and proven installation base. We look forward to a successful market launch and growing customer base for Aadhaar enabled payments.”

TROIKA Transsolutions, Wiseasy and Basewin are also integrating Next Biometrics Aadhaar-certified fingerprint technology into POS terminals for the Indian market.

The Norwegian biometrics firm began expanding its operations in India last summer to support the company’s increased activity in the country.
