Accenture and Onfido bring new identity governance and onboarding tools to ForgeRock platforms

ForgeRock has announced a pair of partnerships and new identity governance capabilities for people and things at the Gartner Identity & Access Management Summit. Accenture Security developed the new ForgeRock Autonomous Identity to automate access request, access certification, and provisioning processes with analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, while Onfido’s Digital Registration, Identity Verification and Authentication solutions have been integrated into ForgeRock’s CIAM platform, according to separate announcements.
Accenture and ForgeRock say their combined offering, which provides predictions for the level of access individuals should be granted with confidence scores and justification, showed potential for up to $10 million in annual savings at a large healthcare organization in testing.
“Our customers agree that identity management and governance deployments are too burdensome. By teaming up with Accenture, we’re delivering a modern approach that leans on automation to help customers stay compliant and keep their workforces productive,” says Fran Rosch, chief executive officer at ForgeRock, in a company announcement. “At ForgeRock, the introduction of AI and ML to automate governance is just the beginning. We believe the next era of digital identity will be defined by new solutions that are smart, automated and harness the power of data.”
The companies estimate ForgeRock Autonomous Identity can automate more than 40 percent of entitlement assignments, on average, while providing visibility to 30 percent among higher-risk assignments.
Identity governance capabilities available on the ForgeRock Identity Platform include access requests, access reviews and reporting to help companies satisfy their governance requirements.
Gartner says Identity Governance and Administration is a mature market, which will increase by 9.8 percent to $3.34 billion in 2019. Governance has fundamentally changed, however with the proliferation of applications, data and devices across the enterprise. This has resulted in expensive customizations and integrations of multiple governance products to apply existing products beyond their limit, ForgeRock says.
“Identity Governance offers great opportunities for companies to lock down unmanaged user and non-person entity accounts, and eliminate unauthorized access that leads to breaches. However, too often these deployments fail to realize the intended benefits because of deployment and product complexities” comments Peter Barker, chief product officer at ForgeRock. “We’ve worked closely with our customers and partners to deliver strong governance capabilities, integrated with our modern digital identity platform for a winning approach that meets the needs of today while offering very streamlined deployments.”
The access request capability enables logical access control, typically through a user interface, the access review capability enables provisioned access to be reviewed and certified for accuracy efficiently, and the reporting capability provides visibility into identities and entitlements details for security and audit teams, along with alerts for exceptions.
The new Onfido integration allows ForgeRock CIAM customers to offer reduced friction for end-user registration and onboarding, the companies say. Onfido says its Identity Verification service detects 98.7 percent of fraudulent applications. In addition to the company’s combination of automated technologies and human analyst review, it also offers selfie biometrics for step-up verification and authentication.
“Whether you’re a bank, online retailer, insurance broker, mortgage company or marketplace, being able to build trust and provide the best onboarding experience possible for customers, while reducing fraud exposure, is a vital step to growth,” explains Husayn Kassai, CEO and co-founder of Onfido. “We’re pleased to partner with ForgeRock to bring the highest level of security assurance to its identity platform.”
ForgeRock customers can reduce abandonment rates and also create trust with their users by leveraging Onfido’s technology, according to the announcement.
